Gamelab 3 & 4Corpus Callosum is the result of Gamelab 3 and 4, two combined projects that take 1 year in total. In this project we worked in a small team to create a game, 1 day per week. The game started out as an arcade platformer game with a underlying message: your play-style is divided into your 2 brain hemispheres, and the game will change its graphics accordingly. To do this, the game used 2 mechanics: rotating platforms, and connecting platforms. The player could use these in different ways to navigate the level, and set different goals for him or herself. These videos show these mechanics I used during my concept pitch.

After a year of hard work we managed to come up with a nice end result, although it did not work out as expected. We made some wrong decisions, but all the people that worked on this still did a good job, and looking back, I'm happy with the process and end-result.

Gamelab 5In gamelab 5 we worked on a game for half a year with a new team, and a revamped concept that uses the Corpus Callosum mechanics. The goal of the project was to create a polished product, so quality was more important than quantity. With our small team we added some new mechanics, a new setting, and changed the whole look and feel of the game. The result is a more traditional platformer game that is fun to play and looks amazing, as you can see here.
My role on this project was design lead, with 1 other designer helping me. I created the concept, came up with the mechanics, did the level design and was in charge of QA. Most of my time was spent on creating an interesting level design and solving multiple design problems, like navigation or control issues. Overall I must say I'm pretty happy with the result, and you can download the game running on Unity here.
