The Angry Octopus is a game concept I came up with for the iPad. The assignment for school was to explain your concept through the use of a video. So here is the video I made, showing how gameplay would work in the actual game, and how the game might look like.
In order to do this I created the models, rigs and animations in 3DS Max, focussing mainly on clarity and communication rather than beautiful and clean models. I then created the interface elements in Photoshop and imported all the files into Adobe After Effects. In there, I put the interface elements in the right places, and had them change accordingly to the points scored in the animation. I also added some effects that would improve gameplay and visibility, something very important for casual games, as our teacher pointed out. Finally, I rendered my After Effects video and did some last editing in Adobe Premiere Pro, to add the music, text and cut it together nice and smooth. The end result speaks for itself I think, and I'm proud of what I learned and what came out of it. |
